This logo is currently being reviewed in a 2018 competition to refresh the cultural logo of the City of Hermosa Beach, California. Logo submissions needed to refresh at least one element from the existing logo.

 

After researching beach resorts worldwide, I discovered that the original logo's "Hb" was completely unique, so I decided to maintain and redesign the "Hb". I also decided to keep and redesign the two seagulls. The overall shape is a pertinent design element which derives from the Pacific Coast Highway Route 1 signage that runs right through Hermosa Beach. No other PCH California beach city uses this shape.

 

The competition began during the summer of 2018. An announcement is expected soon.
